This post is about a website which helps you save money, not earn money and so it is a bit different from many articles I have on the site but I hope it still proves to be useful (however there is the potential to earn money as a Groupon affiliate - see more information below).
Groupon, also known as Group On is a company which specialises in bulk buying to bring cheaper deals for consumers. This is a brief overview of how the website works, a quick review and information on whether Groupon is actually a big scam. These deals can be anything from spa treatment sessions through to meals through to bowling; but they have one thing in common - they offer massive percentages off (over 90% in many cases) but what is unique is each deal lasts a maximum of a day.
For example, recently Groupon have offered tickets to the cinema for £1 instead of £12, £20 instead of £90 for an hour long massage and manicure and £12.50 instead of £66 for access to the Streetcar fleet (as an aside it is possible to get 10% cashback on all Groupon purchases by using TopCashBack, further increasing earnings!).
How do they manage to get such good deals. The company line is they manage to get discounts through bulk buying - which must be true up to a point but I think there are other reasons as well. Many companies probably see it as a good way of getting advertising and new clients - think of it as them offering a discount now in the hope of getting repeat business at the normal price. Also I think that the Groupon business must also make money from no shows due the unusual way in which the scheme works.
There are a large number of websites which promise discount vouchers. However, Groupon is slightly different. Instead of giving you a voucher to print off it asks you to pay the price upfront and then book an appointment or whatever later. Often there can be limits on when vouchers can be used etc so I would imagine that many people forget and so don't take advantage of what they have purchased.
When signing up, you are asked for details on where you live - this is for administration purposes and to make sure you are shown the correct deals as most deals are location specific. As such there are many Groupon sites available, including large cities like London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow but also smaller places like Falkirk, Oldham and Telford and one can only imagine that the scope of these will increase.
Having said all of this, I believe Groupon is a great idea. It has been around in the USA for a while and has recently launched in the UK to great acclaim. Already many people are using the site and I can only imagine this will increase further as people discover the excellent deals on offer. I can only provide my own personal experiences in my own review and I have found Groupon to be excellent.
There is also the potential to earn credit for use on purchasing items by using referral links to encourage other people to sign up for Groupon. At the time of writing, for every person who signs up to Groupon, the referrer gets £6 into their account and for this reason all of the links above on this website are affiliates (meaning i earn £6 for every sign up). However if you don't want to use this affiliate link click here to go straight to the Groupon website.
If you are interested in Groupon sign up here.
Have you used Groupon? What were your experiences of it? Use the section below to give a review - and don't be afraid to call it a scam if you think that is what it is (although I certainly don't think it is!).

I was also a bit suspicious when I read about the Groupon deals and thought there must be a catch but I've bought and used a Groupon voucher and it all went pretty smoothly, you can read my review below:

ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Karen Bryan. Hopefully other people will find Groupon to be as useful as you did!
ReplyDeleteI used them and the business did not live up to the description at all. Groupon said that I used the voucher so there was no refund. How else would I find out about the deal?
ReplyDeleteGroupon is a scam. They sell vouchers, the businesses don't honour the vouchers then when you email Groupon they don't respond.
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for Woolton Picture House but when I tried to use it the cinema wouldn't honour the voucher. There is no small print with restrictions on the voucher. It clearly states the voucher can be used 7 days a week. It clearly states 'just choose a film, a friend and a date to go'. When I tried to see Harry Potter I was told I couldn't use the voucher to see that film and the voucher expires by the time a new film is on.
Thanks for providing that feedback on Groupon - it seems that some people feel it is a scam. Or maybe it is the companies which provide the service which are the scammers....
ReplyDeleteI made my first purchase with Group on and have not been able to get the deal either by contacting the company by phone as instructed or even when directed to the website as no one gets back to you. Group on have failed to answer my emails and their "incredible" customer services is answered by a computer voice (not even a recording) and does not ever get answered and tells you to email so back on the merry go round! Perhaps they honour a few vouchers to keep the myth going and just pocket the rest!
ReplyDeleteI bought two Voucher for a driving experience for my Children for Christmas Presents. I think it's a scam - No one answering the phone number given, Emails bouncing back! I have VERY little income and was easily cond into what seemed to be a bargain!
ReplyDeleteI bought a driving experience for my children for Christmas - as it seemed too good to miss and I have VERY little income. Nobody answers the phone on any of the numbers provided and the emails bounce back!
ReplyDeleteGroupon is a scam, would use it ever again, total waste of my time and money. Still havent recieved voucher after 2months now, despite 8 emails and numerous phone calls which are never answered.
ReplyDeleteI paid £125 for a voucher for a night away for my partner and I at a lovely hotel as a Christmas present. I was unable to redeem the voucher as the hotel wasn't taking calls, weren't taking bookings online, and as it turned out had gone into administration. Groupon sent a standard reply to my first email when asked for a refund, but nobody contacted me as they had promised. They now simply return my emails, nobody ever answers the phone-the voice recording always says they're busy before cutting you off. My credit card company are persuing the matter now, but I am so gutted that I have been duped-I couldn't even buy a replacement gift for Christmas as this has been rumbling on now for nearly three months.
ReplyDeletei purchased some groupon vouchers for visual contour eyelashes newport road cardiff for myself and my daughter and we had them done last saturday we were very pleased with them and the girls that done them were really lovely we went from there to sun angels again in cardiff for a garra ruffa fish pedicure which my daughter chickened out of i enjoyed mine again staff were lovely
ReplyDeleteI had also purchased 6 vouchers for my son for ADVENTURE WALES IN PORTHCAWL FOR A MORNINGS PAINTBALLING WITH 200 BALLS now beware because this deal is a load of balls when i phoned them to book he said it would be an extra £12.00 per person for an extra 200 balls wether you wanted them or not this one is a con not from groupon but from ADVENTURE WALES
Groupon is a scam. You buy the voucher but then the companies will not let you book the service you have bought before the voucher expires and you can't get your money back. Don't waste you money.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a groupon for The Northern Quarter restaurant in the Northern Quarter Manchester and were very happy with our meal. We did go thinking that we would be handed a different menu but this wasn't the case. We had a fabulous meal and did buy a bottle of wine and some olives, dip and bread which of course added to the cost of the meal. We were very happy with the service and would have paid a great deal more for the standard of food and service we recieved. We have also bought a couple of other offers, and so far have been more than happy with the offers.
ReplyDeleteA good page that serves as a daily deal search engine and offers the user a great overview on the market is www.coupobox.co.uk. Instead of checking dozens of websites, you just check one site and save time and money.
ReplyDeleteI ordered a voucher for my mums mothers day present so that she could have a massage. I am unemployed so the £24 I paid was a great deal of money for me but as yet I have not recieved the voucher and that was 3 weeks ago, I have sent e-mails but recieved nothing.......I will keep trying
ReplyDeleteSorry everyone - for me it is a Scam. I purchased a "beauty" deal - cost me £21.00 and should have been for total value of £78.00. There is no way on this planet the experience was ever worth more than £21.00! The salon had no signage, was just set up and I wouldn't actually call it a salon - more a "pop up salon" in someone's recently vacated flat! Minimal products (only 7 nail colours to offer which is just nuts for a salon that is supposed to be offering manicures and pedicures), minimal "battered" salon furniture ... still qualifying therapists who when I asked what was different about a thai foot massage, she just said "nothing, we just gave it that name to make it sound more unusual/desirable". The manicure and pedicure I received were the worst I have ever experienced - the products used were the cheapest available in the local beauty supplies store, no soothing background music - just the local radio! I've emailed Groupon to tell them about the experience but what a surprise ... no response has come back from them.
ReplyDeleteGroupon is a business run by some young kid who doesn't understand quality control or the need to check out each of the offers properly in advance so that this sort of thing doesn't reoccur. I'm dubious about reusing Groupon.
I think it is a scam.
ReplyDeleteI bought a £39 voucher for a massage. I was never able to make contact with the saloon, as they were inundated with too many people trying to make an appointment, calls were never answered. Three months later, I received an email from Groupon informing me that that deal had to be cancelled and that I would receive a refund in 5 working days. Two weeks later, I still haven't received a refund. I cannot make contact with Groupon, they do not answer the phone and all emails bounce back. Will I ever get my money back?
Beware of Groupon offers. A number of them are oversold, and the supplier cannot fulfill all of the coupons within the time frame - in which case there is no refund, and you have lost your money. Guess who keeps the money - Groupon of course...
ReplyDeleteI have bought several Groupon vouchers mainly for restaurants and hotel accommodation. I've used 2 but decided to cancel one, and had the money was back in my account within 24hrs.
ReplyDeleteWhat better service could you want?
As a merchant who recently used them, I would never use them again. They don't bulk buy but offer to pay the merchant a fraction of the voucher price in exchange for the advertising, then advertise something without consulting the merchant about the detail, which is why some are unable to use the voucher. My suggestion would be get your money back and book direct, don't touch them with a bargepole
ReplyDeleteI used my Groupon voucher today which read Exfoliating body scrub and full body massage 45mins. my treatment only lasted for 25 mins.I was told that the treatment starts from when you get undressed up until you get re-dressed. When i asked about the time. i was told that my body was of a small size and that larger people take up to an hour. Now this is so unfair. We all paid the same price. I agree that the company which provides the service is a scam.
ReplyDeleteVery disappointed
I have recently formed The Real Deal (initially in Glasgow) and having read many of the comments here I fully understand their reservations. Whenever I am in discussions with businesses, I point out that in our terms & conditions we state that our customers should be treated the same as others and not discrimnated against. We offer a better commission rate to businesses than certain other group coupon sites. In general we have worked hard to find a balance between running a profitable business, being attractive to other businesses and trying to ensure that you, the customers get value. We admit that once the coupon has been purchased from us it is generally then a contract between customer and product/service supplier. If however, a customer called and explained that they didn't get value we wouldn't just refer them back to supplier. We need both customers and suppliers to function and would in such an instance try to find a solution that works for everybody. I have vast customer service experience and know the importance of providing the best service every time.
ReplyDeleteBought a Groupon for Treadz espadrilles and when the coupon was valid the follow days, they had sold out of all but the gaudy colours. I emailed to ask when they would have more stock and got an unhelpful response of hope you find a pair you like. Also used a voucher for a facial that was supposed to be an hour long according to the website, but last 20 mins with a hand massage and plonked in a vibrating chair for the remaining time. Not impressed with my vouchers thus far so feel discount rate equals discount service!
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for a hotel but couldn;t get through to them as it was such a popular deal. As i didn't realise and wanted it for a specific date, I asked for a refund and they were great. My email was answered so quickly by Grupon Customer Services, they fully understood and I had the money transferred back to me within days. Excellent customer service I have to say and didn't put me off buying deals in the future.
ReplyDeleteThis is a scam, I ordered facial products for £19 and was send a confirmation for a stupid robot hoover. I have sent the co numerous emails and they have not even replied to them. It is clearly a fraudulent company DONT TRUST THEM
ReplyDeletei have bought two vouchers from groupon firstly for a spa with two treatments unfortunately it was a back street salon and treatments were done by a college student whilst the salon owner went home completely unprofessional the other was to have my self and daughters hair coloured the owner never spoke we were treated like second class citizens never again again inexperienced staff doing hair colours i will never buy another groupon voucher.
ReplyDeleteFirst few vouchers were great. Now have one the company won't honour - they say Groupon sold 600 rather than the 200 agreed - hung on for ages on the phone but whomever is at the Groupon end just hangs up as soon as I get through. So fantastic if there's no problem - always book asap is my advice.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a Robot Vacuum cleaner for £150 over a month ago on 20/7/1 and it still hasn't arrived. I've emailed Groupon and received an automated reply a week ago. I emailed the vendor Tefneth Imports and got no reply at all. They state 4 weeks delivery. I'm beginning to worry.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a voucher and used it successfully to buy a photo on canvas and it all went smoothly. However the second voucher I bought to use to buy a canvas from a company called You Frame hasn't been successful. I placed my order with You Frame 7 weeks ago and am still waiting for my canvas. I did get through to Groupon who assured me they were aware of problems with you frame exceeding expected delivery times and promised to get back to me within a week. I am still waiting for Groupon to call me back and for the canvas to arrive. I am queing again now to speak to Groupon so will advise.
ReplyDeleteI am very dissapointed in Groupon as I purchased 2 vouchers for some straightner I am still waiting for after 2 months! When trying to contact Groupon via email I get no response. The customer service is a joke too. I don't reccomend people purchasing vouchers for money off items as you probably won't ever see it!
ReplyDeleteI have used Groupon in London many times. It can work very well or very badly depending on the vendor's attitude to Groupon customers. As Groupon takes almost hslf, I am told , of an already heavily discounted price, the client company will not want to give the Groupon customer much as it is making reduced profits on the service or product. The vendor often wants to shortchange you or give you a poor version of what you have bought. Other companies use it as a loss leader and a way of getting new customers. Though I have often done quite well, it is always a risk so I would not use Groupon on anything really important to me.
ReplyDeleteMy advise is don't use Groupon. I have had a complaint running with them for over a month. I have had email after email agreeing to refund my money but, they have completely failed to do this. With regard to the actual vouchers - for restaurants, do not expect to get £30 of food/drinks for a voucher costing £15 as despite all the advertising you will in reality get food/drink to the value you have actually paid i.e. £15. Can't comment on the the other vouchers they ofer as I have not used then but the food ones really are not worth it.
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for a deal that said delivery would be within two weeks - five weeks later still waiting! Contacted Groupon who took more than a week to respond and they simply blamed the company and took no responsibility for their part in the contract of sale.
ReplyDeleteTried to contact them and the company involved - no response.
In my opinion Groupon now have my money and I have received nothing - big con - don't be taken in!
Hi, I'm from Malaysia. Tefneth Imports have posted their robot vacuum cleaner up on our local Groupon two weeks ago and another ending soon. I believe the company might be a scam as it's been moving from Groupon UK(July) to Groupon AUS(Aug) and now Gropon Malaysia(Sept) and whole lot of other deal sites. Not to mention that their website was only established in june 2011. The company seems quite dodgy from what I found. Have you received the robot vacuum from them yet, Kevin? It's 3 months now. Would appreciate feedback from others too. Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteAbout Groupon itself, I believe it depends on the vendors themselves. So far, we redeemed food vouchers for 6 people and it went well.
DO NOT PURCHASE any offers from laserspa.co.uk on groupon!! I bought a voucher for a pair of pants from laserspa.co.uk it cost me £9.99 and was worth £39.99. I then paid the £3.99 delivery charge via paypal. They say it takes between 7 & 28 days to deliver. It has now been 2 months. Their email address and phone numbers do not work. Needless to mention they had no trouble taking the money from my account.
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for Scotland ski show for £12 on the basis that included a free ski pass for Glencoe, nevis or Cairngorm. I read the terms and conditions which restricted teh pass to mon - fri and limited some public hols. Fine. What it didn't tell you pre purchase was that 'the ski resorts will be printed on each ticket, and their is no opportunity to select which resort you get a free pass for. Three of us went together - all 3 got a different ski resort. They are just hoping you won't redeem them. In addition i got a fluer in last weeks Sunday times promoting the offer direct from the ski show on line at £2 cheaper than Groupon.Beware!
ReplyDeleteThe Groupon promise - copied from their website!
ReplyDeleteNothing is more important to us than treating our customers well. If you ever feel like Groupon let you down, give us a call and we will return your purchase – simple as that.
Not quite how they deal with complaints!!
bought 3 scooters 43.00 pound each what aload of shit, saw them in the market for 10 pound, wont be doing that a gain .will be reporting them to tradeing standards ,
ReplyDeleteHere is the thing....if I offer a massage at $15 instead of $40. I get my customer...why would they come back, when every week they run the same deal for another salon. That same customer is more likely to take the deal with another salon than come back to me, as they clearly love a bargain.
ReplyDeleteThey run the same deals all the time. Same theory goes for restaurants. You would take a deal with someone else just to save the cash as this is the nature of the beats that buys the vouchers. Are we that busy looking at fair trade in all the third world countries that we have gone mad and can't even look after the small business's on our own doorstep.
But free will lets business take up these ridiculous deals because they are already in a hard place and hope that this will help them drag their business through what is a very rough time. I have seen these deals break more than make...I for one will never buy a voucher online again.
If you really want the discount, call the company up. They can offer you the same discount, but at least these group buying companies wont get their cut..GOT DIRECT
i purchased a ICE device all in one bluetooth car kit for £22.95 + £4.95 p+p when the voucher was activated next day i then had to wait a further two days before i could redeem the voucher then when i tried to do so it came up with errors was as far as i got, so i contacted groupon they said contact the company and put your point across so i did by email as they have no other contact details on the groupon website if you try to bring up the bluetooth world web site it just comes up with HPPT errors got back on to groupon and and they come across as they will assist you but they are all talk and no action as the as they told me they would contact the company via there other department that deal with these i suspect they are overrun with problems as you guess i heard NOTHING! a few more days past and to my surprise the same item appeared on groupon again so i got on to grupon to find out what was going on with my order they said it was showing that i had activated my voucher as needed to go back to that department what was going to contact me in the first place, THEY DO NOT DO SO! i had a rant the person i was speaking to spoke to manager and said my money will be returned to me pay pal account, so at that i tried to purchase another throwing caution to wind in that may it could have possibly been a problem at my end, NOT! the same thing happened i.e. web site disappeared again when i contacted groupon they said their was a problem and i could have my money back again but i could not have my first lot back even though i have not received anything for it, still not had anything back and have stopped using groupon might i add that groupon shares have risen to a 400 million high the company is worth 17 million i would say there is a large percentage of unsatisfied customer money banked earning interest of that 17 million £56 of which is mine, what do you think? also see the watchdog reviews for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI Purchased a voucher for full head colour or Foil hi-lights plus cut.The salon price£74 Groupon Price £25 the staff told me that Groupon takes fifty percent and that they got £12.50 per customer and believe me that is about the price I would have thought my treatment was worth. They used ordinary Cooking foil for my hi-lights the salon was dirty,I was the only customer at the time and there were cuttings from a long hair haircut still on the floor when I arrived and left! the staff were obviously treating the Groupon customers as a mistake which was costing them more in products and overhead expenses than they were making. Will NEVER go back to this Salon lost opportunity for them.
ReplyDeletePurchased vouchers for afternoon tea for four at a central Leeds hotel. Tea was weak and cold, sandwiches poor, cakes inedible. The room was so cold we kept our coats on.It was for Dads birthday. Happy birthday Dad and sorry! Ther is no such thing as a bargain! Rubbish experience.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to cancel 3 outstanding orders with Groupon as they have failed to deliver the goods / service. They have offered me a refund in vouchers and state they have a 7 day refund policy. How are you supposed to cancel an order due to excessive delivery delays within 7 days of the purchase? Why would I want credit with a company that doesn't deliver? Disgraceful.
ReplyDeleteI feel I must post a positive / a little support for Groupon - only fair. I left some negative feedback about Groupon on 26 Nov 2011 about non delivery of goods and services. Today they have issued me a full refund for which I am grateful. Initially they offered me credit/vouchers but I declined and a full refund came within a few days of my first request. That is pretty good. I shall not be using Groupon again which is a shame because I did have some good deals with zero hassle. That was in the good old days maybe. A sad loss - I liked looking at my daily offers and getting a bargain. For info, I paid via Paypal and that through my Mastercard credit card so I had some protection. Good luck all, hope you too get a happy outcome.
ReplyDeleteDO not buy vouchers from Le beaute Clinique in Stratford. It's a scam! I've bought a voucher of 129,00 pounds for IPL hair removal on groupon and when I tried to book it is impossible to book. The phone rings but no answer. Online bookings are also impossible.
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for a set of Louise Walsh brushes in August 2011. It took a long time to receive the product. I finally received them at the end of October 2011. Due to the delay delivery, I longer needed them so I returned them to Louise Walsh. Groupon said Louise Walsh needs to send them an email to confirm that they have received the return goods in order to make a refund. I tried to call and email Louise Walsh but no response. Both Louise Walsh and Groupon are scam. They received the goods and don't want to make a refund. Please do not buy anything from Louise Walsh or through Groupon ever again. I have to tell the whole world how Louise Walsh is cheating their customers. I wish them close down very very soon. So angry. Your angry customer.
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same experience as the 20 September 2011 message. Groupon took no responsibility to their part in the contract of sale and won't make a refund because the company did not send them a confirmation email that they received my return goods. Big con. Will never buy from them anymore.
ReplyDeleteI bought a voucher for full valet on my car for £19.95 saving £100 according to the advertised deal. Received voucher promptly. Booked in for valet and left car. When I returned Car was gleaming and had been cleaned inside but not shampooed as advertised. When I queried this was told didn't include interior shampoo. Cost of valet I had had was £20 so saved the magnificent sum of 1p! I wont be taken in again. (I see the same deal being offered again. Don't fall for it!!)
ReplyDeleteyes i too bought 26 vouchers for our rugby lads for a christmas treat at KARTING 2000, i booked in oct for dec what a scam, we all arrived in 8 cars from Leeds to Manchester (50 miles), on arrival we were told it was waterlogged and the place was shut (no prior phone call) i took pics of the small bucketful of water lol, i wasnt able to re book with the boys who appeared to be running the place average age of 17/18 and when asked for a toilet for the lads i was told they were all out of order, IT WAS A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN, PLEASE DONT BOOK AT THIS COMPANY, i was lucky and groupon re funded my money after they told me they wouldn't cause nobody else had made a complaint, until i emailed them back a number of complaint i had found on the internet, i also informed them of legal duties with health and safety which i also reported and the money was back in my account within hours. Please take photos of problems as evidence and report to the local authority and threaten with small claims court, but best of all please dont use groupon.
ReplyDeleteI bought a Groupon deal for a £70 handbag as a Christmas gift, but when I tried to redeem the voucher, the company said it was invalid or had expired! I went back to Groupon, who told me it was working fine and to try again. I did this - and it didn't work! since then 6 emails to Groupon customer support with no response - the last one being headed COMPLAINT!!!! I have yet to hear from them and will not be buying from them again.
ReplyDeleteQuite simply, I think Groupon are CROOKS. They take your money, if you eventually get the goods then that may be ok, but if there is a problem you are on your own. You won't get your money back from the vendor because you actually paid groupon, and you probably won't get your money back from groupon, they will just offer vouchers for something you don't want.
ReplyDeleteAlso, be aware that they make outrageous claims for savings - in one recent deal they advertised a boiler service for £39, saying it normally cost over £100. The service company were advertising the same service for £49. In my opinion they are CHEATS and LIARS.
Groupon is definately a conning company..I received faulty goods which neither the supplier or Groupon is doing anything about yet have kept my money secondly ordered 2 sets of earrings received one again no one is taking responsibility & refunding me both these queries are from Christmas orders..think I'll definately stick to Amazon to buy things worth paying that little bit extra!!!
ReplyDeleteDont use Groupon ..what a scam.I paid for a voucher to have my oven cleaned. After phoning and making the booking and paying a further £10 fr my hob to be cleaned...the company never turned up. When I phone the answer machine is always on ..messages are never answered. When I e mailed Groupon ..nothing was done. Buyer Beware !!
ReplyDeleteI paid £300 for 2 mattresses from matching bedrooms.com in October 2011. The goods were never delivered, and the company were virtually uncontactable. I have been asking for refund now since December, and I keep being told I'll get one in 10-14 days every time I phone. I will never deal with this Groupon again. They do not seem to check that the company they are offering deals with are reputable.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a groupon voucher in January and purchased my item right away, I am still waiting for delivery 30/3/12. I have just realised I have left it too late to get a refund through paypal as they have a 45 day limit on disputes. I have emailed Groupon but they just tell me to keep waiting.
ReplyDeleteSo I have definitely been scammed, at least I only spent £8.50!
Purchased goods in February goods to be delivered in 4 weeks 8 weeks later and many promises goods still not here 8 weeks later. I found e-mail address for groupon but they don't keep their promises. E-mails from Adil Rouass support@groupon.co.uk
ReplyDeleteGroupon is losing money every year. Hopefully they will be gone before all the businesses that, in the name of competition, have had to sign up with them. Not only do they have to give deals of 50% off. They have to pay 30% or more in commission to Groupon. In the UK add 20% Vat to that. There is almost nothing left for the business - hopefully enough to pay wages and buy the food, product etc but no profits as they are almost giving away what they are selling. It's all very sad and not good for anyone in the long term.
ReplyDeleteAny Company that has Links to Ask Dandy .com as Groupon seem to do must be avoided at all cost.
ReplyDeleteI have bought minor items from Groupon and been pleased - no hitches. However in mid December I bought my daughter a Debenham's shopping experience, which cost £50, and have just got a refund (in Groupons). In fairness it was Debenham's that cancelled the booking - no staff available, by rebooking took it outside the dates the offer was on for and a new voucher was needed - and promised. In the end I got a refund instead - unfortunately in Groupons, not as money the way I paid. I could have stuck out and tried Trading Standards, etc but 3 months down the line I gave up. In my 70's life is too short to spend the rest of it mis-communicating with Groupon. just hope that I find more minibargains that work for me. I've definitely decided not to get anything else as a present via Groupon - what should have been a treat for a daughter who needed an instant promotion update for work clothes, ended up a stressful non event.
ReplyDelete
